The Utah Expedition (1857-1858) showed the kind of man the unit sought and continued to draw through its evolution, from 2nd Dragoons to 2nd Cavalry, to the 2nd Armored Cavalry, across battlefields from Gettysburg to the relief of Bastogne: always ready with "never a complaint."
